The NR Technology Investment Program (TIP) was initiated by Nex Rubica (United Kingdom) to assist technology enabled startups in Africa develop a sustainable revenue model subsequently supported by funding for those that meet our bankability criteria.
Underlying the inability of startups in Africa to gain scale in a manner similar to their peers in Europe and North America is the issue venture capitalists and founders ace in navigating the myriad of risks and challenges across various cultures and markets in Africa. For instance, the wrong funding type; the wrong growth plan and the wrong approach to managing and growing the business is a major stumbling block.
The TIP initiative focuses on growing Tech business from startup stage into institutions. Our goal being to ensure sustainability in the business model and in financing. Once accepted unto the program we ensure our startup’s strategy can withstand our investment team’s scrutiny.

Despite the urgency and growing investor appetite for investments into Africa’s infrastructure and resource development opportunities, a lack of bankable projects have limited investment from public and private financiers. This has meant a need for effective project preparation services that take these projects to bankability before investor consideration.
With our deep experience in working with Sponsors and Investors across all regions of Africa, preparing Sponsors for investor assessment and taking projects to bankability is skillset core to our Transaction Advisory business.
Project preparation primarily takes place in four stages: concept/design/scoping, pre-feasibility, feasibility, and structuring and transactions. Each stage addresses different impediments to bankability and builds on the previous stage.
