Profile

Ibrahim is a seasoned finance executive with over 25 years of banking experience across Mauritius, the United Arab Emirates, and Sub-Saharan Africa, specializing in structured trade finance, corporate banking, credit risk, and compliance. At Nex Rubica he supports the Structured Commodities and Trade Finance work stream, where he leverages a deep network of institutional relationships and extensive cross-border expertise to support.  
 
Prior to Nex Rubica Capital he was Head of Structured Trade Finance at Mauritius Commercial Bank (MCB); Head of Trade Finance and Transactional Products at Standard Bank . Prior to these senior roles, he was Senior Manager, Infrastructure Trade Finance – MENA at HSBC International. His areas of specialization include structured solutions for commodities, capital adequacy management, and regulatory frameworks such as IFRS 9. Known for his strategic perspective, Ibrahim brings both regional and global experience, having held senior leadership roles at both country and regional levels, engaging with DFIs, multilaterals, and corporate clients.


Ibrahim holds a Master’s degree in International Trade & Finance from Lancaster University (UK), and continues to serve on advisory boards across South and East Africa, helping shape trade and capital markets policy in emerging economies
